Our Sunday service from Bishop Auckland to Darlington was put under threat at the beginning of the year when Durham County Council said it would cut all public transport funding as part of its cut backs, Northern Rail confirmed without any funding the service would not run after December 2011 when Durham County Council would look at stopping the funding

Bishop Auckland Station Trust started a campaign to save the service and try to persuade Durham County Council not to stop all of the funding, we launched a petition and gained the support of hundreds of local people who use the train service we also gained the support of our local town council (Bishop Auckland town council) and Shildon town council which also has a station on the Bishop Line, Our MP weighed in with her support and wrote to all involved to rethink their plans for the service

In May we received confirmation from Durham County Council that they were now starting talks with Northern Rail to continue some funding to keep the BISHOP LINE Sunday Service running

We will keep you posted on this progress!
